Yamaha T7!!! Sice to neni finalni verze, ale aspon neco.
Spatna zprava je kdy bude....
The Yamaha guys were in the office recently talking about some of their new dirt bikes, and I told them all I really wanted to know about was when I was going to get a plated WR450. This still isn't quite that, but it could run circles around the other adventures bikes at your next BDR.
Yamaha reiterates that this is just a concept, but the level of fit and finish (and the fact that they built a fully functioning concept and rode it on stage at EICMA) give me high hopes and expectations that we'll see this released for 2018. Because we deserve an adventure bike that makes 75 horepower, weighs under 400 pounds, and lets us pretend we're racing Dakar.
The engine that features in the T7 Tenere Concept first saw light of day in the Australian market in 655cc guise to satisfy the LAMS scheme restrictions in order to make the MT-07 available to learners. The following year Yamaha also released the MT-07 in the full power 689cc capacity that the rest of the world receives. This larger 689cc engine boasted 75hp in comparison to the LAMS machine’s 52 horsepower. Torque was also significantly boosted from 57.5Nm to 68Nm, good enough for a top speed of around 220km/h in the MT-07.

If this doesn’t make you feel like putting some motocross boots on and heading off into the great unknown, then you’re missing a key strand of your biking DNA.
While Yamaha are fast to point out that this is just a concept bike, there’s absolutely no doubt that the firm will put this XT660 Ténéré replacement into production, continuing a 33-year line of Dakar-inspired middleweight desert assault bikes.
The facts
•74bhp (est)
•180kg (est)
•Seat height 895mm (est)
Highlights
•CP2 700cc parallel-twin engine
•Full-on WR450F Dakar styling
•Expected to arrive in 2018
The game moves on dramatically though with this concept. Packing the MT-07’s CP2 engine into an all-new chassis, the T7 should dig into the soft stuff with superb tractability from the parallel-twin 700.
Equipped with an aluminium fuel tank, quad-projector LED headlight, a carbon fairing and skid plate, and a custom made Akrapovic exhaust – as well as high specification KYB front suspension, 21in front and 18in rear – the T7 concept is a serious statement of intent.
It’s a WR450F Dakar for the masses, and while much of the bling Dakar-aping spec sheet might be sacrificed for production, the overall effect will remain – and we love it.
